Quick Check: Why is “focus time per person per day” one of the most important collaboration metrics? Because the entire purpose of optimizing collaboration — fewer meetings, async communication, knowledge bases — is to give people uninterrupted time for deep work. If you reduce meetings but focus time doesn’t increase (because interruptions moved to Slack), you haven’t actually improved anything. Focus time is the outcome metric that matters most.
