Do I need a paid Canva subscription to do this course?

Yes. The Magic Studio features (Dream Lab, Magic Write, Magic Animate, Magic Grab, Magic Expand) require Canva Pro or Canva for Teams. Brand Kit is also a Pro feature. The free tier won't run the one-prompt weekly stack workflow that's the core of Lesson 4. Most SMBs find the subscription pays back in the first week of saved design time.

What if I don't have Ortto — can I still get value?

Yes. Lesson 6 specifically uses Ortto because Canva acquired it and the integration is tight, but the segmented-campaign-with-AI-design pattern works with Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign, or Klaviyo. The Canva exports are the same; the automation platform just changes. Lesson 6 includes notes on translating to those alternatives.

Will the AI-generated content actually pass for professional design?

Lesson 3 (Brand Kit setup) and Lesson 7 (the 5 failures to avoid) are specifically about this. Out-of-the-box Canva AI produces obvious AI design — same fonts, same color palettes, same generic compositions.
