Claude Certified Associate Exam Prep
Pass the Claude Certified Associate (CCAO-F) exam first try. 34 lessons across all 7 official domains, 120+ practice questions, built from the exam guide.
Why this instead of a traditional degree?

About this program
About This Degree
The Claude Certified Associate – Foundations exam doesn’t ask whether you’ve heard of AI. It asks whether you can use Claude to do business work well and responsibly — write a prompt that produces something you’d actually send, catch the confident-sounding answer that’s quietly wrong, pick the right feature and model for the job, and know what you should never paste into a chat box. Most study material treats those as separate tips. The exam treats them as one skill, weighted: Output Evaluation alone is 21% of your score. This program is built to match that reality.
Not sure you’re ready? Take the free readiness check — a short set of exam-style scenarios across all seven domains, scored instantly with a per-domain breakdown, no signup required. It tells you which domains to focus on before you spend a cent on the exam.
Every module here maps to one official exam domain, and the lesson counts follow the domain weights — so you spend the most time where the points are. Each lesson does more than explain: it shows you real Claude output, then shows you the same task going wrong — the fabricated citation, the wall-of-text that should have been a table, the raw spreadsheet that should have been anonymized first — so you learn to see the difference the way the exam expects. You’ll practice with 120+ questions, including the multiple-response, exact-match items that trip up people who only studied the concepts, and finish with a full mock and an exam-day plan.
Work through all nine modules and you won’t just be ready to pass — you’ll actually be the professional the credential describes: someone who can take a fuzzy business need, turn it into work Claude can do, check the output like it matters, and know exactly when to keep a human in the loop. That’s a skill you keep long after the exam, and a path that continues — to the Developer and Architect credentials — when you’re ready to escalate.
Prerequisites
There are no mandatory prerequisites for the CCAO-F exam — the credential is awarded on exam performance alone. If you're not yet a regular, hands-on Claude user, these free FindSkill courses are Stage 0 of the path before the prep modules.
Why AI can sound confident and still be wrong — the foundation for Domain 2's evaluation and hallucination-spotting, the biggest slice of the exam.
Roles, examples, and structure — the base skill Domain 1 builds on before you decompose and iterate prompts.
What AI can and can't do for real work — the orientation a productivity-tool user needs before the workflow and governance domains.
Frequently asked
Is this an official Anthropic course or certification?
No. This is an independent study program built from the publicly available CCAO-F Exam Guide. It prepares you for the exam but is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic. The official credential comes only from Anthropic's proctored exam, delivered through the Anthropic Partner Academy and Pearson VUE.
Who should take CCAO-F versus CCDV-F or CCAR-F?
CCAO-F (Associate) is for professionals who use Claude as a productivity tool — operations, marketing, project management, HR, communications, consultants, knowledge workers. CCDV-F (Developer) is for engineers building on the Claude API. CCAR-F (Architect) is for people designing enterprise-scale Claude systems. If you don't write code, CCAO-F is the one for you.
How much does the exam cost, and what happens if I fail or it expires?
The exam is $99 USD per attempt. If you don't pass, you wait 14 days after your first fail, 30 after your second, and 90 after your third — up to four attempts per rolling 12 months. The credential is valid for 12 months; renewing on time is a free, non-proctored assessment on the Partner Academy. If it lapses, you retake the full exam at full price.
Do I need to be in the Anthropic Partner Network?
Registration runs through the Anthropic Partner Academy — the Claude Partner Network is free to join — and scheduling is handled by Pearson VUE. Any partner-tier discount is applied at checkout.
What is the exam format?
60 items (a mix of multiple-choice and multiple-response), 120 minutes, and you pass at a scaled score of 720 on a 100–1,000 scale. It's criterion-referenced — a fixed bar, not a curve. Your score report shows a pass/fail plus your percent-correct in each of the seven domains.
How long does it take to prepare?
The program is about 12 hours across nine modules. Most people spread that over a couple of weeks of focused study, spending the most time on the heaviest domains — Output Evaluation (21%), Workflow (16%), and Governance (15%).
I'm a casual ChatGPT or Claude user — is this for me?
Yes, if you use Claude for real work and want to prove it. The exam targets someone with regular hands-on experience. Start with Module 0's self-assessment — if a domain feels shaky, we point you to the free Stage-0 courses before you dive in.
I'm a developer — should I take this or CCDV-F?
If you build on the Claude API or write code against Claude, the Developer exam (CCDV-F) fits you better. CCAO-F deliberately excludes API and SDK work — Associates escalate technical implementation to Developer and Architect credential holders.
What do I get when I finish?
Command of the claude.ai product for business work, 120+ practice questions in the exam's style, a free readiness check and a full mock exam, and a FindSkill completion certificate. The official CCAO-F credential still comes from passing the proctored exam.
Do I need coding or technical skills?
No. This exam is explicitly for non-developers with limited-to-moderate technical expertise. If you can use a browser, a spreadsheet, and email, you have the baseline. No installs, no API keys, no command line.
What AI tools will I use?
Just the claude.ai product — Projects, Artifacts, connectors, memory, and the model picker — on a free account. Everything you practice on is free; only Research and unlimited Projects require Claude Pro.
What's the difference between this program and the prerequisite courses?
The prerequisite courses teach the foundations — how AI works and how to prompt. This program applies those foundations to the full exam blueprint: evaluation, product and model selection, workflow design, configuration, governance, and troubleshooting, at the depth the CCAO-F actually tests.
