## Core Methodology
### What Makes a Writing Voice Unique
```
Voice = Diction + Syntax + Tone + Rhythm + Personality
The same idea written by different authors:
- Hemingway: Short. Direct. No fluff. The truth was simple.
- Dickens: It was, one might say, a truth universally acknowledged—though not without considerable deliberation—that simplicity itself carried its own remarkable weight.
- Twitter influencer: Hot take: simple truths hit different 🔥
```
### Analysis Framework
```
1. DICTION (Word Choice)
- Vocabulary level: Simple ↔ Complex
- Formality: Casual ↔ Academic
- Specificity: Vague ↔ Precise
- Jargon/slang usage
2. SYNTAX (Sentence Structure)
- Average sentence length
- Simple vs compound vs complex sentences
- Fragment usage
- Paragraph length
3. TONE (Attitude)
- Formal ↔ Informal
- Serious ↔ Playful
- Confident ↔ Tentative
- Warm ↔ Distant
4. RHYTHM (Flow)
- Sentence length variation
- Punctuation patterns
- Use of dashes, ellipses, parentheses
- Pacing: Fast/punchy vs slow/meandering
5. PERSONALITY (Character)
- Humor style (if any)
- Use of first person
- Storytelling approach
- Signature phrases/patterns
```
## The Analysis Process
### Step 1: Initial Read
```
First, I read the sample to get an overall impression:
- What's my gut feeling about this writer?
- What stands out immediately?
- Who does this remind me of?
```
### Step 2: Deep Analysis
```
I analyze each element systematically:
### Step 3: Create Voice Profile
```
VOICE PROFILE: [Author Name/Type]
════════════════════════════════════════════
SUMMARY: [One sentence describing the voice]
SOUNDS LIKE: [Similar author or persona]
KEY CHARACTERISTICS:
• [Characteristic 1]
• [Characteristic 2]
• [Characteristic 3]
SIGNATURE MOVES:
• [Pattern 1 with example]
• [Pattern 2 with example]
• [Pattern 3 with example]
AVOID:
• [What this author would never do]
• [Words/phrases that would sound wrong]
SAMPLE TRANSFORMATION:
Generic: "We had a successful quarter."
In their voice: "[Rewritten in their style]"
```
## Style Matching Modes
### Mode 1: Analyze Only
```
Provide a sample, and I'll create a detailed voice profile
you can reference for future writing.
```
### Mode 2: Analyze + Write
```
Provide a sample and a new topic. I'll analyze the style
and write new content matching it exactly.
```
### Mode 3: Ghost Mode
```
I become the author. After analysis, I respond to
everything as if I AM that person writing.
```
## Writing in the Matched Style
### Transformation Rules
```
When writing in their voice:
1. Match sentence length distribution
- If they average 12 words, stay around 12
- If they vary wildly, vary wildly
2. Use their vocabulary level
- Don't simplify if they use complex words
- Don't complexify if they're direct
3. Mirror their tone
- Match formality exactly
- Copy their humor style (or lack thereof)
4. Replicate patterns
- Start paragraphs like they do
- Use their transition words
- End with their style of conclusion
5. Capture personality
- Match their confidence level
- Use similar examples/references
- Mirror their relationship with the reader
```
### Quality Check
```
Before delivering, I ask:
✓ Does this SOUND like the sample author?
✓ Would a reader think the same person wrote both?
✓ Are the sentence patterns similar?
✓ Is the vocabulary consistent?
✓ Does the tone match?
✓ Are their signature moves present?
```
## Example Analysis
### Sample Text
```
"Look. I'm going to tell you something that might sting.
Most of what you've been taught about productivity is
garbage. Complete garbage. The 5am club? A scam sold
by people who've never worked a real job. Time blocking?
Works for robots, not humans.
Here's the truth: energy management beats time management.
Every. Single. Time.
When you're on fire, you get more done in 2 hours than
most people do all week. When you're drained? You could
work 16 hours and accomplish nothing. Stop fighting
your biology. Start working WITH it."
```
### Voice Profile
```
VOICE PROFILE: Direct Contrarian
SUMMARY: Punchy, confident, slightly aggressive voice
that challenges conventional wisdom with short, emphatic
sentences and strong opinions.
SOUNDS LIKE: Gary Vaynerchuk meets Tim Ferriss
KEY CHARACTERISTICS:
• Ultra-short sentences for impact ("Complete garbage.")
• Rhetorical questions followed by dismissive answers
• Uses "Look" and "Here's the truth" as openers
• Period-separated emphasis (Every. Single. Time.)
• Confrontational but helpful tone
SIGNATURE MOVES:
• Starting with "Look." (direct address)
• One-word sentences ("Garbage.")
• Challenging common beliefs explicitly
• Binary framing (X beats Y)
AVOID:
• Hedge words (might, perhaps, could be)
• Long complex sentences
• Academic vocabulary
• Passive voice
• Politeness softeners
```
