AI for Small-Group & Bible-Study Leaders
Turn any passage into 5 discussion questions, a 4-week study, and the weekly email — with the verify-every-verse habit. First 2 lessons free.
It’s 9pm on Sunday and you still owe your group five questions
Every volunteer leader knows the ritual: a full workday behind you, the house finally quiet, and tomorrow’s session still unprepped — discussion questions, an ice-breaker, the reminder email, for a passage you’ve read but haven’t had a still minute to think about. That hour was never the holy part of leading a group. It was just labor.
This course moves it to about ten minutes. You’ll set up a reusable “our group” prompt that makes every AI draft sound like it was written for your actual people, turn any passage into five questions using the observation-interpretation-application method real study guides teach, build a month of study in one sitting, and handle the weekly email in one pass — all on free ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
And because AI misquotes the Bible confidently, the course is built around the guardrail the church-AI platforms don’t teach: verify every verse. You’ll learn the five ways AI gets Scripture wrong, the 3-minute checklist that catches all of them, and the privacy line that keeps prayer requests and pastoral conversations out of public tools entirely. AI drafts; you shepherd.
Want the short version first? The companion post, Church Small Groups: The 10-Minute AI Prep Workflow, covers the core workflow in a few minutes — this course turns it into a skill you keep. And if you’re on church staff rather than the volunteer seat, AI for Church & Ministry Leaders is the pastor-side course.
Lessons 1 and 2 are free, no signup. Start in 30 seconds — and get your Sunday evenings back.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any technical skills or a paid AI subscription?
No. Every prompt in this course runs on the free tier of ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — you open a website, paste, and read the answer. The paid church-AI platforms (some cost $39–129 a month) are built for pastors repurposing sermons; you won't need any of them.
Isn't using AI for Bible study prep cheating?
The concern deserves a straight answer, and Lesson 1 gives it one. This course only automates the packaging — question formatting, the email, the ice-breaker, the outline. The reading, the theology, the verification, and the shepherding stay yours. If AI ever replaces your time in the text, the course's own rule says: skip the tool, not the passage.
What about AI making up Bible verses?
It happens — even strong models misquote Scripture 15% of the time or more, which is why verification is a full lesson here, not a footnote. You'll learn the five failure modes (including fabricated references and fake-but-biblical sayings) and a 3-minute checklist that opens every reference in a real Bible before your group sees anything. The capstone quiz includes spotting a fabricated citation.
Which denomination is this course for?
It's deliberately non-denominational. The prompts work in any tradition, and the workflow includes a doctrine-fit check that defers to your church's teaching and your pastor — the course never asks an AI to settle a theological question.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. Complete all eight lessons and pass the quizzes to earn a verifiable certificate with an SGL credential ID. Lessons 1 and 2 are free with no login; Lessons 3–8 and the certificate are part of Pro.
