Breaking Free from a Toxic Workplace
Journal facts vs fears, rewrite self-talk, set written boundaries, keep a lawful paper trail and rehearse your resignation with AI. 8 lessons + certificate
Leaving well starts long before you resign
A workplace with no HR, no written leave rules and a job description that changes every week is not a puzzle you failed to solve. Regulators and researchers call what you are living in a set of psychosocial hazards: unclear roles, low control, inconsistent treatment and no recovery time. Sixty years of data put role ambiguity at the top of the list of damaging work stressors. Toxic culture predicts who quits ten times more strongly than pay does. None of that is about your competence.
This course gives you the structured tools the “just stay positive” crowd never does. You’ll build a two-track journal that keeps facts and fears on separate pages, write self-talk scripts that work against impostor feelings and learned helplessness, draw a transactional-professional line around your evenings, and send scope, leave and recap emails that create a paper trail without starting a war. Then you’ll plan the exit: a readiness check, a three-line resignation, rehearsed answers to guilt-trips and counteroffers, and an interview kit for choosing a healthier next workplace.
How AI is used, and where it stops
You’ll use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to question your journal entries, draft and shorten boundary messages, turn a messy week into a dated log, and play the manager who pushes back when you resign. Every exercise runs on fictionalised, role-based summaries. Lesson 1 shows each tool’s current privacy settings and explains why identifiable colleague, client or company data never goes in. The AI is a drafting and rehearsal assistant. It is not a therapist, a diagnostic tool, a legal adviser or a confidential vault, and it never decides whether your workplace is “toxic” or whether you should leave. Where qualified help or urgent support is warranted, the lessons say so and point to it.
Built at the request of a Pro member. Lessons 1–2 are free.
What You'll Learn
- Analyze your workplace against the six HSE Management Standards domains and separate structural hazards from personal shortcomings
- Apply a two-track journal (factual incident log + Facts-vs-Fears thought record) to detach your self-worth from systemic dysfunction and read physiological red flags
- Create distanced self-talk and defusion scripts that counter impostor feelings and learned helplessness without toxic positivity
- Design a transactional-professional boundary system: bounded effort, a recovery routine, scope scripts and recap emails that don't escalate
- Evaluate which records are lawful and useful (scope and leave confirmations, incident log) versus risky (covert recording, copying company data) in your jurisdiction
- Create a strategic resignation and workplace-selection playbook: readiness check, resignation message, rehearsed pushback responses, counteroffer test and interview question kit

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this therapy, legal advice or a way to diagnose my workplace?
No. It is a skills course. The AI acts as a drafting, questioning and rehearsal assistant. It does not diagnose you or your employer, give legal or medical advice, or keep your data confidential. Every lesson points to qualified human help and crisis lines where they are warranted.
Can I paste my manager's emails or colleagues' names into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini?
The course says no. Lesson 1 shows the current privacy settings of each tool and teaches you to work with fictionalised, role-based summaries instead. Identifiable colleague, client or company data stays out of consumer AI tools.
Will this tell me to record my boss or copy my files before I leave?
No. Lesson 6 explains why covert recording and copying company data can backfire legally, and shows the lawful alternative: recap emails, a dated incident log and written scope and leave confirmations that are yours to keep.
Does the course guarantee I can take leave or resign without consequences?
No course can. Leave rights and notice rules depend on your country, state and contract. The lessons show examples from Great Britain (Acas) and the United States (Department of Labor) and tell you when to check local rules or get advice.
Which AI tools does it use?
Any of ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Free tiers handle every exercise; the privacy settings differ, and Lesson 1 walks through each.
Is there a certificate?
Yes. Complete all eight lessons and the quizzes to earn a verifiable certificate. Lessons 1–2 are free; the rest and the certificate are part of Pro.
