Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know how to code to take this course?
No. The course teaches the trigger-action-condition way of thinking and uses no-code tools (Zapier, Make, n8n's visual editor) for the implementation work. If you can describe a workflow in plain English ('when a new lead fills the form, send them this email and add them to this sheet'), you can build it. Lessons 5-6 introduce light scripting concepts but no language-specific syntax.
Which automation platform does this course teach — Zapier, Make, n8n, or something else?
The thinking and the workflow design are platform-agnostic, and we use the platform that best illustrates each concept (Zapier for simple linear flows, Make for branching logic, n8n for self-hosted control). How much do these tools cost?
Zapier and Make have free tiers that handle 100-1,000 tasks per month — enough to complete every exercise in this course. n8n is free if you self-host. Most of the automations you'll build pay for any subscription within a week of running. Lesson 7 covers the cost-versus-task math so you don't over-buy.
What if my company restricts which automation tools I can use?
The trigger-action-condition framework works for any tool — including the enterprise platforms your IT department probably allows (Power Automate, Workato, Tray.io). The portfolio in Lesson 8 is designed to translate. If you want explicit Power Automate or M365 coverage, that's covered separately in the M365/Copilot course; this one teaches the underlying skill.
What's the difference between this course and AI agents?
Workflows are deterministic — when X happens, do Y. AI agents make autonomous decisions about what to do next. Most actual business work is workflow-shaped (90%+ of what saves you time), and that's what this course teaches. Once you've built solid workflows, the agentic-ai course covers when an agent earns its complexity over a workflow.
