Claude Computer Use
Learn how Claude can control your computer — clicking, typing, and navigating apps while you're away. Setup, real tasks, security, and practical workflows.
Claude can now control your computer. Not metaphorically — it literally takes screenshots, reads what’s on screen, moves the mouse, clicks buttons, and types keystrokes. You describe what you want done, walk away, and come back to find it finished.
It’s a research preview, not a polished product. It works on macOS, it’s sometimes slow, and it occasionally clicks the wrong thing. But for repetitive desktop tasks — filling out forms, organizing files, navigating web apps — it’s genuinely useful right now.
This course shows you what Computer Use can do today, how to set it up safely, and which tasks are worth automating vs. which ones will just frustrate you.
You’ll enable Computer Use in about two minutes, then watch Claude work your desktop for the first time (it’s a strange experience). From there, you’ll try real tasks: browser automation, spreadsheet work, file management, and combining Computer Use with Dispatch to work remotely from your phone.
The security lesson is important and honest. Giving an AI control of your desktop has real risks. You’ll learn what to watch for and how to set up a safe environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need technical skills?
No. Computer Use works through the regular Claude Cowork interface — you describe what you want in plain language, and Claude does the clicking and typing.
Which computers does this work on?
macOS only (as of March 2026). Windows and Linux support hasn't been announced yet.
Do I need a paid Claude account?
Yes. Computer Use requires Claude Pro ($20/month) or Claude Max.
Is it safe to give AI control of my computer?
Lesson 7 covers security in detail. The short answer: it's a research preview with real risks. We recommend starting on a non-critical machine.
